De OPC-Server biedt een standaard interface voor toegang tot gegevens van de OPC clients van verschillende PLC fabrikanten.

De OPC-server ondersteunt TCP/IP-netwerken via standaard netwerkkaarten en ook MPI netwerken die een of meerdere COM-poorten hebben, een MPI-serieelconverter kunnen verbonden worden via de VIPA MPI-USB adapter.
